March 2017: Darby is going to need a lot of patience & love. Don't fill out an application if you work full time. This boy needs someone with alot of time.
If you want unconditional love this is the boy for you. He is so loving.....to one person (likely a female). He is housebroken. He was raised in a puppy mill as a breader. Then he was in a kennel surrounded by constant barking for a year. He had never been loved. Never known companionship. Never knew trust. Was very afraid of humans. I don' think he was ever beaten or anything like that.  He wants love so bad. Once he loves you your heart will melt. He's quite affectionate & playful.
If you have more than one dog or have children under the age of 12 that live there or is there more than 1 day a month Darby is not the dog for you. If you are home alot & want the love of a sweet dog that is so grateful this sweet boy might be perfect for you. Fill out an adoption application.

March 2019: Well 2 yrs later I think i have done all i can for Darby. Things I can tell you for sure: He loves women. He's not crazy about men especially if they do noisy work around the house(hammers, drills etc) He doesn't like loud noises nor storms. He is afraid of both. I put him in his "safe spot"(his crate) and cover it with a blanket & he does fine. He gets along with most dogs but doesn't like them around his food bowl. He does great at the groomers. Darby will sleep in your bed once he gets to know you. He will lay next to you on the couch. He is crate trained and LOVES his crate. I leave the door open during the day. It was always my plan to try to get him ready to be adopted. After a while I wasn't sure that would happen. +++++ What Darby needs now is a family of his own. He is one of many in my pack. I know he will continue to grow once he is out of a large pack. This boy is super sweet. He just wants your love. Because of his fearfulness the potential adopter would need to be located an hour or less from Alexandria KY. This is because I will have to bring him to your house several times and you and your family would have to travel to see.him at my house several times. This sweet boy needs someone with time and patience. He's such a beautiful boy! He deserves a family of his own.
